You can transfer money from Netspend to Cash App by using a linked bank account as a bridge since the two apps do not work together. In this case, you'll be linking your bank account to both Netspend and Cash App, which will receive money from one account and send it to the other account.
How to Transfer Money from Netspend to Cash App
Back in February 2026, I had to switch from Netspend to another banking platform because this one was a costly option, and since I already had an active Cash App account, I thought of it as the ideal option to hold my funds in the meantime. This is where I went into finding ways to transfer money from Netspend to Cash App, and I finally succeeded with the linked bank method.
Here's how I did it.
Step 1: Withdraw Money from Netspend to Bank
The first thing I had to do was to withdraw my money from Netspend to my bank. Netspend supports transfers to external bank accounts, and you can do it through the Bank Transfer feature.
I was charged $7.50 for transferring $263 from Netspend to my bank account at KeyBank, and this fee confirmed why Netspend is really a costly banking alternative for me.
Step 2: Link Bank Account to Cash App
I already had my bank account linked to Cash App, so I didn't have to go through this step. But if you haven't done so yet, you need to do so to move on to the next step.
To do so:
- Open Cash App on your phone.
- Tap your Profile icon in the top right corner.
- Select Linked Banks and tap Link Bank.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to link your bank to Cash App.
Step 3: Add the Money to Cash App
The easiest part of the overall process, adding money to Cash App.
To do so:
- Open Cash App and go to the Money tab.
- Tap Add Cash.
- Enter the amount you want to add to Cash App, then tap Add.
- Confirm your PIN or Face ID to finish.
Since I used my debit card to add money to my Cash App balance, I saw the money reflected in my balance within a few minutes of completing the steps, and I wasn't charged a fee for this.
You should consider using your debit card instead of your bank account for the top-up. Of course, the debit card will need to be linked to Cash App for this to work.
How Long Does it Take for the Transfer to Complete?
Netspend considerably slows down the transfer to at least 1 business day because it uses the ACH network to transfer money to your bank account. But once you have the money in your bank account, it'll take you just a few minutes to add it to your Cash App balance.
How to Transfer Money from Cash App to Netspend
Transferring money from Cash App to Netspend involves the same steps as the other way around, which include:
- Withdraw money from Cash App to your bank account.
- Link your bank to Netspend.
- Transfer money from your bank to Netspend.
Final Thoughts
Cash App does not work with Netspend, so transferring money between the two apps isn't directly possible. However, you can always transfer the funds through a linked bank account, and I've shared the experience I had with transferring money from Netspend to Cash App.
The best take I can give is that you should beware of the fees Netspend will charge you for external bank transfers.
