Nowadays, keeping track of our finances is very crucial for our everyday spending—and Netspend allows cardholders to do this just so well.
That said, if you're a Netspend cardholder, you can check your available balance in a few ways, whether it is online or over the phone—you'll just find a method convenient for you.
And to help you out, I've compiled the different ways to check your Netspend account balance so you'll pick out the best that works for you.
How To Check Your Netspend Balance
Checking your Netspend card balance is very easy, thanks to the numerous ways Netspend has made available to cardholders.
With that said, you can check your Netspend card balance through any of the following ways.
1. Through the Online Account Center
When looking to check your Netspend balance, the Online Account Center should be one of the first options that come to your mind.
In a Nutshell, it is a place (or call it a center) that allows you to take full control over your card account online. You'll be able to manage your account balance, view recent transactions, set up direct deposits, and even get to know more features linked to your account.
To check your balance through this center, all you need to do is go to the center and sign in to your account. After doing so, you'll have your balance shown to you.
2. Through the Mobile App
If you prefer the convenience of a mobile app over a web platform, then checking your balance through the Netspend app is what you need.
When you download and sign up for the app, you'll typically see what you should see on the web platform, and just as in the previous method, this one is also one of the free ways to check your Netspend balance.
3. Through Text Message
What could even be better than typing a message and receiving your balance right away? Well, for some cardholders, this is one of the best ways, and I am of the same thought.
However, the only difference is that you'll have to sign up for Anytime Alerts which will alert you of any transaction carried out with your Netspend card, and as a little advantage, you get the opportunity to inquire your card balance by texting "BAL" (without quotes) to the number 22622 anytime to receive your account balance.
You should also know that this method may include carrier charges for the message, and if you don't mind paying these charges, then you can go for this method. But I just think it should be an option for you if you have already subscribed to Anytime Alerts. I mean, why won't you take full advantage of the feature?
4. ATM
This is a tricky, but effective method to use that isn't officially mentioned by Netspend.
You'll be using the feature of ATM's that let you check your card balance as one of the features that they offer. I believe most, if not all, ATM's now let you check your card balance, even if the card wasn't issued by the bank that owns the ATM.
So when you get to an ATM, just insert your card, enter your PIN, then choose check balance as the transaction you're looking to make. You should see your Netspend card balance show up, and if this works for you and the ATM does not charge you a fee for the service, then you can add it as another free way to check your Netspend card balance.
5. Customer Service
While they don't offer the best experience, Netspend customer service can still help you check the balance you have on your card. Of course, that will only be possible if their official methods don't work out for you, because their first response will be the different ways you have to check your balance.
Just tell them that you haven't been able to check your card balance, and they'll do it for you and inform you right away.
You can reach out to them at 1-866-387-7363, but keep in mind that you might be charged a service fee.
How To Check Netspend Balance For Free
There are two ways to check your Netspend balance for free, which include:
- Through the Online Account Center.
- Through the Mobile app.
Also, if you were able to check your Netspend card balance at an ATM without being charged a fee, you can add it as an additional method that won't require you to pay anything.
Final Thoughts
While being a very expensive banking alternative, Netspend offers many ways to check your card balance, and some of these methods come at no additional fee.
This guide compiles the different ways to check and manage your Netspend card balance so you won't miss out on any transactions carried out on your account.
