Cash App's Green status is the app's new trending feature, and this one comes with interesting benefits that you'll probably won't find for free with most competing apps.

Since its launch in November 2025, more than 8 million Cash App users have already qualified for Green status, sharing impressive testimonials about how beneficial the program has been for them.

In this guide, I'll explain what the Green status on Cash App is, its benefits, and how you can easily get qualified for it.

What is Cash App Green Status?

Cash App Green is a program that lets you access premium banking benefits beyond the normal things you could do with a standard Cash App account. Of course, when you meet the requirements, your status will automatically shift to Green, making you eligible to benefit from the premium benefits that come with the program.

In essence, Cash App has shifted most of its features, like Borrow, Overdraft coverage, etc., to be made available for just Green customers. They've combined most features that had different eligibility requirements to be available by just meeting the requirements for a single program that carries all premium features available on Cash App.

Cash App Green Benefits

Cash App Green offers many banking benefits that you'll find very interesting. In fact, the benefits Green offers are what you'll typically find most financial institutions offering customers with regular paychecks, carrying out large transactions through their accounts.

These benefits include:

1. Higher Borrowing Limits (Up to $500)

I believe this is one of the most interesting benefits of the Green status. Before the launch of Green, anyone residing in an eligible state could borrow money from Cash App by simply meeting the requirements. Now, when eligible for Green (and residing in an eligible state), you'll be able to get up to $500 for short-term financing.

2. Free Overdraft Coverage of Up to $200

Overdraft coverage is still a relatively new feature on Cash App and was available for qualifying Cash App users. In fact, if you've ever overdrawn on your Cash App balance, you should already know that the requirements to overdraw on Cash App are typically the same as those for the Green status. As a Cash App Green user, you'll get a free overdraft coverage of up to $200.

3. Higher Savings Interest Rate

Cash App savings is available for all Cash App users, but the interest rates differ depending on whether or not you're a Green user. While standard users have a maximum interest rate of up to 1.5%, Green users can make interests of up to 3.25% on their savings.

4. High Cash Back Offers

What's the essence of shopping if you can't really get cash back all the time? Green offers up to 5 cash back offers, which is way higher than the 3 standard Cash App users get.

5. Free In-Network ATM Withdrawals

One of the biggest issues most Cash App users have faced over the past few years is the ATM withdrawal fees.

Unlike competing services like Venmo and PayPal, which offer free in-network ATM withdrawals, Cash App users are exposed to paying $2.50 for their withdrawals at in-network ATMs. Well, with Green, you won't be charged for your in-network withdrawals anymore.

6. Paper Money Deposits

Usually, when you get to a participating store and want to deposit paper money into your Cash App balance, you'll typically be charged a $1 service fee. Green eliminates that fee and lets you reload your Cash App card at any retailer free of cost.

7. Priority Phone Support

We all know how Cash App support can be really annoying, especially with long delays or unanswered inquiries. As a Green user, your calls to Cash App support will be prioritized over those from standard Cash App users.

How to Qualify for Cash App Green Status

cash app green status requirements

If you are a regular Cash App user with qualifying deposits and transactions, you should already be qualified for this feature, even without knowing.

To qualify for the Green status on Cash App, you'll need to:

  • Spend at least $500 on Cash App either through your Cash App card or through Cash App Pay, or
  • Deposit $300 or more in qualifying deposits every month.

If you already do any or all of these two, you should already have the feature activated for the period for which you got qualified (a period of 30 days).

What I love about this program is how flexible the eligibility requirements can be. That is, if you got qualified for the current period, you are using Green and think you can't meet that same requirement, you can focus on the other instead, so you'll ensure your eligibility for the coming month. For example, if you met the $300 qualifying deposit for May, which got you eligible for Green this month, and you believe you can't meet the same requirement for next month, you can focus on spending at least $500 on Cash App this month of June to renew your eligibility for Green in July.

However, if you can't still meet the requirement, don't punish your financial health because of the fear of getting removed from the Green program. You can always qualify for it whenever your finances permit you to.

How Do I Know If I Have Cash App Green Status?

You can easily find out if you are eligible for the Green status by going to the Money Tab on your Cash App mobile app. Cash App has unified the Cash Card Tab and the Money Tab into one to serve as a bridge for you to easily track your monthly progress.

Cash App Green Status Earned

Once you get eligible for Green, you should see the Green status with the date your eligibility sunsets for the period you are in. When you click through it, it should take you to a page where it is boldly written that "Green status earned," indicating that you are currently eligible for Green and are already partaking in the program.

Final Thoughts

As a digital banking enthusiast, Cash App Green is just what I've been expecting from Cash App. You can easily get qualified for so many banking benefits by just meeting the requirements for a single program.

Perhaps, Cash App's main objective and aim behind this feature is to get more and more users to focus their finances on their banking app, but what we, the users, should see is an opportunity to bank as any American should do.
